Every two seconds, somebody, somewhere, is in need of blood. The Red Cross is trying to reach out to people once again to make sure they maintain their supply. You never know the impact you will have on someone when you give. Most people believe that giving their blood to save someone else's life makes them feel good because they know that they are saving a life.
For Seth Parker, giving blood is his way of giving back. His reasons are personal; his only son almost died. His 3 year-old son went through a lot when he was born. Just hours old, Stuart developed a life-threatening condition where his lungs stopped breathing; doctors hooked him to a special machine to keep his heart and lungs pumping. At some point, the doctors said he needed a few blood transfusions to boost his levels and he would be ok. Seth's wife had given blood before but never imagined her own life would be impacted by this need.
You never know who is going to be on the receiving end of that special gift! When a bag is filled, just one, can save up to three lives. The Red Cross said it needs about 650 of the bags everyday to patients in hospitals all over Connecticut.
With one doantion of your blood can save a life! Just think of how many people's lives we can save together. So once you give blood, you will give a gift of life...
