In 1977, Castafari (Andre Collins) was born in Falmouth Trelawney and raised with family members in between St. James and Somerton District 12 miles away from Montego Bay Jamaica, and being from the countryside; music was his only refuge. While growing up in a Christian home, all Reggae music ws looked upon as forbidden music. Reggae music is all around him, the streets, the bazaar, the schools, the club, the tavern, playgrounds, even at night as he rested his head, he could feel the vibe of neighbours sound systems vibrating the bedroom window. At the tender age of 8, he start performing, and professionally at the age of 14. At the age of 19 or 20, He performed in Hartford, CT in 1997, when he supported head liners such as, Busta Rhymes, Beenie Man, and numerous artistes. Castafari means, "really come together". He graduated UMass Amherst in 1999 with a degree in Communications and Theatre Arts. The self-confident thinker, producer, lyricist, artist, and entrepeneur unleashed the single, "They Don't Like It", "So Lovely", and "Steal My Joy". Lyricallly, Castafari has the strength of a lion and a pace of a cheetah, and rapidly puts his mind to any project. Not only is Castafari interested in personal growth, he's deeply interested in his community.
